My copy of this book is so completely annotated and dog-eared!! So much information in this brilliant work!! Highly recommend if you have any interest in alternate or complementary healthcare. Jul 22, Sarah rated it it was amazing. Absolutely intriguing scientific evidence to support the often sneered upon methodology of working with and proving the existence of energetic bodies and energetic healing.
It goes to show that things your logical mind rolls its eyes at and write off without investigating can be extremely worthwhile and plausible if only you have an open mind. He lays this book as a foundation for which hopefully other doctors or researchers can build upon. Unfortunately, he died in I believe that year so there can be no more updated installments from the author himself. One criticism I can offer is that Gerber tends to repeat his point multiple times to ensure you understand the concept within a given chapter. Often I find what he says redundant, sometimes in frustration because of the dry scientific writing style.
It takes a little bit of effort I find to process his writings purely because they are a bit more on the academic side versus say a Harry Potter or Stephanie Meyers book.
There are some things that seem really "out there"--the Atlantis section comes to mind--but I've learned to not discount anything for absolute certain.. At least within the confines of this book. I do discount the Pastafarian Spaghetti Monster oddly enough. The dozens of notes I've made throughout this book attest to how provocative I found it. Gerber's diagrams and charts were helpful to me. In fact, there are several I have pulled out for use with clients.
Of all the books I've read on energy medicine so far, this is one of the most valuable ones to me, and it is already 20 years old. I am eager to read the newer ones to see how the knowledge base has expanded.
Dec 29, Larrybemail rated it really liked it. This is a great book on alternative healing therapies including acupuncture and some other stuff. It's quite interesting and has a lot history on techniques both new and old. It just goes to show you Western medicine doesn't know everything. Jul 28, Michael Weaver added it.
A must read. Aug 14, Katja Vartiainen rated it liked it Shelves: spirituality , health , meditation , new-age. Well, it couldn't get new agier than this. I read 'The Body Electric' and found it fascinating, so I thought this could be the next step.
Of course this book is outdated, even though it has been re-edited in I'm sure there is more research been done, especially in meditation, and acupuncture, which are the most credible parts of this book. The theory provided, is fascinating, and partly a least probably right, concerning energy bodies etc.
But who knows? I am fascinated about this stuff, and Well, it couldn't get new agier than this. I am fascinated about this stuff, and have done yoga for 20 yrs, and I know it effects you 'holistically', but still, we don't have the methods to record the changes in etheric body.
The much mentioned Voll machine does not do it for me. So, there is a lot of hypothesis and hopeful thinking. Which is not all bad, you have to step out of the box to get new ideas and broaden your horizons. I was hoping more proof, though. There was no mention that anybody has tried to verify these findings. I would be interested what kind of properties gems really have, but have hard time taking seriously the so called information provided by one channeller only.
May 23, Julie Sanderson rated it it was amazing. One of my favorite books on understanding energy and frequency and how it affects the human body. A little difficult to get through - heavy reading - but well worth it. It presents a whole new approach to understanding health and sickness as it relates to energy.
Oct 29, L rated it it was amazing. I find it shocking that this knowledge was known so long ago. Really comprehensive guide. May 02, Elizabeth Wehba rated it really liked it. So informative. Loved it. Love the science and research that is involved the making of the book. Mar 01, Rachel rated it it was amazing Shelves: own. Excellent read. Although I believe in the new age arts I am still very logical and often have a hard time reconciling the two.
Richard Gerber went back to the science, which I just happened to complete my education in, and connected the two.
