The material or substance whether containing nutrition or not is purposefully added in the food technology such as the making, processing, preparation, handling, packing, or transporting the food so that the additive material will result a component or influent the special characteristic of the food itself.

The research was conducted to find out the correlation between behavior the respondents have and food consumption which contains formaldehyde and boraks in Desa Yosowilangun, Kecamatan Manyar Kabupaten Gresik. The type of the research is observational by cross-sectional data collecting. It belongs to analytic survey research. The subjects are chosen by proporsional sampling.

Controlled Variable is consumption of food contains formaldehyde and boraks and Loose Variable is behavior factor such as education, knowledge, work, experience, and socio-cultural. This means there exist correlation between the respondents food consumption contains formaldehyde and boraks and such as education, knowledge, experience. It can be concluded that there is meaningful correlation towards the existence of formaldehyde and boraks in food product and the respondents such as education, knowledge, experience.

Therefore it is very suggested to increase publics knowledge on formaldehyde and boraks through the mass media and school curriculum in order to introduce them the physical characteristics of formaldehyde and boraks, so that public will not consume food containing the formaldehyde and boraks.

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara perilaku dengan konsumsi makanan yang mengandung Formalin dan Boraks di Desa Yosowilangun Kecamatan Manyar Kabupaten Gresik. Jenis penelitian merupakan penelitian observasional dengan pengumpulan data secara crossectional.

Termasuk penelitian survey analitik. Subyek ditarik dari populasi dengan cara proporsional sampling. Variabel terikat adalah konsumsi makanan yang mengandung Formalin dan Boraks dan variabel bebas adalah faktor perilaku pendidikan, pengetahuan, pekerjaan, pengalaman hidup juga sosial budaya. Menggunakan teknis analisis deskriptif analitik dengan uji Spiermen untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya responden yang mengkonsumsi makanan yang mengandung formaldehyde and boraks.

Kesimpulan yang dapat ditarik adalah mempunyai hubungan yang bermakna terhadap keberadaan Formalin dan Boraks dalam produk makanan dengan pendidikan, pengetahuan, pengalaman hidup responden. Untuk itu perlu meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang Formalin dan Boraks di media massa dan pada kurikulum sekolah dengan mengenalkan sifat fisik dan ciri Formalin dan Boraks dalam makanan sehingga masyarakat tidak mengkonsumsi makanan yang mengandung Formalin dan Boraks. Sedangkan sampai saat ini belum ada yang membuat media atau iklan layanan masyarakat yang secara khusus mengangkat boraks sebagai topik atau permasalahan.
